A later morning start allowed members time for church or a lie in and the Edwards coach was able to depart on time with everyone well-equipped for the rain already falling and forecast for the day ahead.
An hour through the green Welsh spring brought us to the garden and a special price group welcome.
With a short briefing on the locations in the gardens with roofs to shelter under, members and their friends set off into the grey mists and gentle rain.
The huge smoothly domed glasshouse was a favourite with members who had been before remarking on how much more planting had grown up as they wandered through to curving paths in the warm and dry climate inside.
A huge variety of unusual specimen plants are on show, lots in extraordinarily generous bloom.
Coffee, soup and the juggler were also admired before moving on to the other plant houses.
The tented food fair was found full of Welsh cheeses, meats, chocolates, cup cakes, beers and some energetic music from a nimble violinist and top-hatted accordion player, who matched each others speed and musicality.
Members returned with various extras to the damp town walls of Tenby in time for tea.
