Vandals who caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage at one of Tenby's public gardens should be publicly named, shamed and prosecuted, says the town's Mayor. Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane is calling for the action after one of the memorial flower beds in the Paragon Gardens was torn apart over the weekend. Around 500 flowers and plants were pulled up from the display - sponsored by the family of the late Griff Fisher, of Tenby House Hotel - and crushed and thrown around the garden, which overlooks the South Beach. The incident occurred sometime between Friday evening and early Saturday morning. "It is an absolute disgrace," Clr. Mrs. Lane told the Observer this week. "This is the fourth time the gardens have been attacked this year," she pointed out. "Enough is enough. The gardens were only re-opened at the end of June after they had to be closed while repairs were carried out to the railings which were vandalised," she continued. "We are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with the names of the vandals and if they are of adult age we want to name, shame and prosecute them." Police are investigating the matter and are also appealing for anyone with any information to contact PC552 John at the town's police station on 842303.
