The evening will be the highlight of a weekend of events marking the founding of the choir a quarter of a century ago by Graham Stubbs ATM and on this special occasion, the choir are hosting several professional musicians.
Mark Burrows (tenor) studied at Cardiff University, Boston, and San Diego, and has subsequently sung in many venues around the world, making a particular mark in singing in Handel's 'Messiah'.
In the spring, he was back in Cardiff to sing at St. David's Hall, but later this year, he will tour the US and record two TV 'specials'.
Mark Burrows is also well-known in the world of TV music and light entertainment as a producer/director. He has worked for the BBC, S4C, HTV and on US TV alongside people like Bryn Terfel and Sir Anthony Hopkins, as well as his near-relative, Stuart Burrows.
His work as MD of Melody Music specialises in choir tours worldwide and he promoted the recent successful Lions Choir tour to Australia.
Jill Padfield (soprano) also graduated from Cardiff University and subsequently studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and at the Royal Academy.
She has extensive oratorio and operatic experience. Jill's competition successes include the W. Towyn Roberts Scholarship at the Royal National Eisteddfod and the MOCSA Young Welsh Singer, as a result of which she accompanied the Morriston Orpheus Choir to Canada, New Zealand and Australia as guest soloist.
She also toured California with Risca Male Choir and is currently studying on a Post Graduate Course at the Royal Academy, as well as performing.
Angharad Williams (violinist) has recently completed three years study at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has played with numerous orchestras, being leader of the Pembrokeshire County Orchestra at one stage and later playing with the Dyfed Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.
Angharad has made regular appearances at St. David's Hall, Cardiff, and has played at the Fairfield Hall, Condon.
She is currently working as a freelance player, often working with the Welsh Philharmonic alongside the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and WNO.
Meryn Williams (accompanist) studied music at Cardiff University and worked with the Royal Ballet Company. Currently a freelance accompanist, Meryn is also MD of Llantrisant Male Choir.
Known to many in Tenby and locality is Christine Shewry, MD of Tenby Male Choir. A graduate of the Welsh College of Music and Drama, Christine was conducting the College Madrigal Choir at premier events while still a student. From 1978 to 1994, Christine was a teacher and also conducted the Haylett Grange and Hubberston Children's Choir, as well as being MD of Whitland Male Choir for five years.
Following a serious road traffic accident, Christine was forced to take a break from her musical activities. In May, 2000, she was appointed MD of Tenby Male Choir and under her guidance and professional authority, the choir has redeveloped its repertoire and increased its membership.
Jill Williams joined Tenby Male Choir as accompanist only in March of this year, but has quickly gained the respect and affection of the choir and its followers.
Jill graduated with a M.Mus. in 1977, and has taught piano and been an active member of the Pembrokeshire Music Hall Players. She is much in demand as a pianist and organist locally. Working in close harmony with Christine and the choir, Jill helps to produce that famous 'Tenby sound'.
The compere for the evening will be Roy Noble, the well-known BBC radio presenter. Roy is president of Tenby Male Choir and has supported the choir on many occasions, over many years. In his own inimitable style, Roy will contribute to and enhance the atmosphere of the evening; his warmth, friendliness and generosity of spirit permeating the musical entertainment on offer.
The concert will begin at 7.30 pm and it is advisable to obtain tickets as early as possible.
Tickets are available (£5 each) from any choir member. The ticket hotline number is (01834) 813931. As parking may be difficult outside the church on the evening, visitors are advised that there are several large car parks within walking distance of St. Mary's.
