To hear the world class music and song that is Pembrokeshire, this gala concert on Friday, June 17, at St. Davids Cathedral is the place to be.
Current Great Britain brass band champions - the acclaimed Goodwick Brass Band (UK Champions in 2013 and 2015), along with two much-loved, well-known local male voice choirs - The Whitland and District and Pembroke and District Male Voice Choirs, also Bella Voce and baritone Aaron Pryce-Lewis, are all supporting The HOPE MS Therapy Centre celebrate their 30th anniversary year.
Under musical director/conductor Matthew Jenkins, Goodwick Brass Band has gone from strength to strength. Although they play the ‘original brass band sound,’ their version is something belonging almost to another planet - to hear is to believe - their record of achievements in recent years is testament to their exceptional performance.
Whitland and District Male Voice Choir, one of the oldest in Wales, and Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir have given pleasure to many thousands of Pembrokeshire, Welsh, UK and international audiences over the decades with always something new, but also many favourites with traditional and new arrangements.
Aaron Pryce-Lewis, now studying at The Royal College of Music, last year received a ‘standing ovation’ at The Royal Albert Hall. Baritone Aaron - one of those wonderful voices who can sing ‘anything’ from the classics to the shows, from Sinatra/Munro to Elvis - is a joy to listen to.
Bella Voce, a dynamic four-part ladies choir may only have performed their first concert at Christmas 2014, but their music is unbelievably entrancing. With a growing reputation for the quality and range of their close harmony singing, you can expect to hear every kind of musical genre from Palestrina to Adele and more. They are directed, guided and inspired under the baton of Sarah Benbow (mezzo soprano, who like Aaron, can sing absolutely any genre) and accompanied by the talented, well-known Seimon Morris.
The unbelievable musical talent we have in Pembrokeshire will be showcased during this very special gala concert. One not to be missed!
