Pembroke Castle is gearing up for their double headline act of vocal legends Gabrielle and Sister Sledge on Saturday 22nd June.

They will be following in the footsteps of acts like UB40, Jools Holland, and this year’s sell-out line-up of Status Quo and Bonnie Tyler. Pembrokeshire’s most famous and iconic historical fortress will be transformed into a stunning music venue for the annual Rock The Castle weekend, now in its sixth year, and as in previous years it is not to be missed.

Gabrielle’s unique and compelling voice is one of the most recognisable in British pop history. Since her debut single Dreams reached No.1 in the UK 25 years ago, she has sold over five million albums, won two Brit Awards, two Mobos and an Ivor Novello.

She secured nine top ten hits from her first three albums, with singles such as Give Me A Little More Time, Sunshine, Rise, and Out of Reach becoming instant R&B classics. Earlier this year she released Under My Skin, her sixth studio album, full of lavishly produced, classy, sing-along hits it went straight into the UK top 10.

Sister Sledge are one of the most iconic female groups of all time. They formed in 1971 but became a global success in 1979 with the release of We Are Family, an album produced by Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards, which propelled them to become an international household name.

An array of hits followed, such as He’s the Greatest Dancer, Lost in Music, Thinking of You, and Frankie, which stayed at the top of the UK charts for four weeks in 1985. They have performed at the Ali-Foreman “Rumble in the Jungle” boxing match, The White House, Glastonbury festival and for Pope Francis in Philadelphia. It will be the first time this legendary group has performed in Pembrokeshire.

The evening will be opened by Jazz Morley, a British singer-songwriter making waves with her beautiful soul-influenced electronica. She has been compared to the likes of Jessie Ware, Lana Del Rey and Sia, with her influences range from Whitney Houston to Fleetwood Mac.

Castle Manager, Jon Williams, commented ‘The immense support this event has received in previous years has given us the confidence to aim even higher with our 2019 line-up. For us to stage Gabrielle, Sister Sledge and Jazz Morley together on one night is extremely exciting. To do so 24 hours after Status Quo, Bonnie Tyler and Dr Feelgood perform will ensure that this weekend will be the biggest live music event Pembrokeshire has ever witnessed”.
