The future of Saundersfoot's community education centre, at the old school in Westfield Road, is under review. Learning Pembrokeshire has maintained a community learning centre in the village for a number of years. The centre provides adult learning sessions and sessions for community user groups. Unfortunately, however, the centre is no longer fit for purpose. "The condition of the building is poor, there is no disabled access and the backlog of repair and maintenance is significant," said a spokeswoman for Pembrokeshire County Council. As a result, the future of the centre is now under review. Continued the spokeswoman: "The council is currently in negotiations with the Regency Hall committee about the centre's future. "Proposals by the committee to extend the hall could provide a new base for adult learning and youth provision in the town and should also accommodate some of the community user groups. "However, until this work is completed, centre users will need alternative accommodation. All adult learning classes can be accommodated in neighbouring centres, while alternative venues are being sought for community user groups." Added the spokeswoman: "All community user groups are being consulted about these proposals."
