Town councillors have discussed the idea of loaning an historic funeral bier to a local village to exhibit.
"Maybe we could look into loaning them the funeral bier as we have no where to display it and it's depreciating and taking up storage space with us," he explained.
"It would be better viewed and safely kept in a proper bier house and we should make use of it as it desperately needs to be repaired and rehoused.
The funeral bier was kept in storage by Tenby funeral directors W. and M. J. Rossiter and Sons for over 30 years, before the town council took it in for safekeeping.
The town council had hoped that Tenby Museum could display the item, but they didn't have the space.
The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane said she didn't agree with the bier going on long term loan as she felt that it was something that could be lost to the town in years to come.
Clr. Lawrence Blackhall suggested that a five year loan plan could be drawn up and revisited to ensure that the town council would retain it's ownership.
