Festivals, fiestas and fairs - the people of Pembrokeshire are masters at creating unusual events that pull in the crowds from far and wide.

To help those events become even more successful, the South West Wales Tourism Partnership and Pembrokeshire Tourism have voted another £7,000 to be used as grants towards marketing costs.

Administering the grant is Pembrokeshire Tourism, which hopes to support as many events as possible so grant levels will be between £250 and £1,500. But hurry - applications for this round of funding must be in by Thursday, December 22.

Priority will be given to events that will take place annually or bi-annually rather than one-offs. The events should take place outside of the main tourism season and should be interesting and strong enough to attract visitors from outside the county, preferably on an overnight basis. Only events taking place between January 2 and June 30, excluding bank holidays, will be eligible.

Events that won grants for this year included the highly successful Really Wild Food Festival. The Tenby Arts Festival was another to benefit, as well as the Newport, Nevern and Dinas Festival of Ploughing.
