Seasonal summer time events may have ended, but fundraising continues throughout the year for members of Saundersfoot Rotary Club.

Shoes - Rotary’s associated work with Tenby Salvation Army collecting usable second hand shoes continues. So rather than dumping them into land fill phone Brian Jenkins on 01834 811629 who will happily collect them and make sure they are sorted, sent away to be sanitised, then recycled to people in need.

Shoeboxes - Not to be confused with the shoe collection mentioned above, this is where the public have been generously involved in filling shoeboxes provided by the local Rotary Club with items for people in need in Eastern European countries.

Already, 600 filled boxes have been sent in time to reach them for this Christmas .

“We thank the local schools, churches, clubs, and the general public for their recent support in these difficult financial times - your generosity from our area will make such a big difference to people in need in other parts of the world,” remarked Rotarian Brian.

Foodbank - Collection of food goes on throughout the year, but is especially appreciated during the Christmas period by local people. If you can and are able to help , please ring John Walker-Smith on 07528 794781 who will help with ideas on what food would be appropriate and will collect donations from your house if necessary.

Tenderfoot - After a pleasing result at the Welsh National Disability Games held in Cardiff when the local tenderfoot team came a creditable third. The two teams were treated to an excellent Christmas meal organised by the team leader Charles Hopkinson which was held at The Begelly Arms Hotel.

Charles presented various trophies to a number of the two sports teams who attended the games from the area. Father Christmas also paid a surprise visit with a present for everyone!

Harbour Christmas Fair - Rotary were invited to sell roasted chestnuts at this popular annual event. The occasion was highly successful with many stalls selling a variety of goods and with coloured lights the atmosphere was indeed very festive. Well done to the organisers for creating this event.

Saundersfoot Rotary would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas .

If you wish to know anything about the organisation please ring secretary Brian Waters on 01834 813665 or visit the Facebook page.
