Raydene along with family members Louise Waters and Pauline Davies have worked so hard to raise the funds, and after achieving their milestone target, all three were invited to visit the CDU recently to meet the nursing team where they were warmly thanked for all they have done, and to view some of the new purchases which will improve comfort levels for patients.

Raydene started her fundraising effort in 2016 and has since organised many social events, including - raffles, coin collections and coffee mornings in aid of the Unit.

Supported by her daughter Pauline and daughter-in-law Louise, they have donated to local charity Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit Appeal each year which supports the Unit by purchasing equipment, funding staff development and practical help for patients who are going through cancer treatments.

The appeal is very close to Raydene’s heart as she has first hand experience of family members who have needed the support of the Cancer Day Unit.

Raydene said: “I have lots of respect for the work of the nursing team at the Cancer Day Unit so I decided that I would keep going in the hope of reaching my goal of £10,000.”

Bernie George Trustee of the Cancer Day Unit Appeal, said: “A great deal of hard work has gone into raising a mega amount of money for our charity which we truly value. Thank you so much for your efforts.

“The funds raised are contributing to several important initiatives at the moment aimed at sustaining and enhancing the clinical service offered to Pembrokeshire patients.
