Tenby Surf Life Saving Club, were delighted to inform Tenby Town Council on Tuesday night that they had been successful in obtaining match-funding from the Welsh Assembly Government's Business Sponsorship Fund, thanks to contributions from Tenby council and support from Oakwood.

In a letter to the council, they revealed that with the funding they would be purchasing a rescue jet ski and a vehicle to transport equipment to and from the shore line.

"We are grateful for all the support Tenby Town Council has given to the club over the years and for recognising the opportunity the club offers young people to qualify as lifeguards and learn about beach and sea safety in a safe enviroment. The club has grown from strength to strength, to provide a much-needed centre for watersports in Tenby," added the letter.

The club will be holding a 'come and try' weekend on July 17/18 to coincide with the British Junior Life Saving Championships which will take place on South Beach, and will also be holding a 'thank you' day sometime in May or June for the people and organisations that have supported the club.
