Three community projects based in Pembrokeshire are set to receive £370,000 of funding under the Community Facilities and Activities Programme (CFAP). The programme is a grant scheme operated by the Welsh Assembly Government to help community or voluntary organisations provide facilities or carry out activities which will promote the regeneration of communities. Pembrokeshire Local Action Network for Enterprise and Development (PLANED) will receive £200,000 to administer a small grant scheme, 'Shaping Our Futures', to promote enterprise in Pembrokeshire The purpose of the Shaping Our Futures project is to provide capital investment to facilitate this process. The projects supported will usually already have received development funding for initial feasibility studies. The 'Shaping Our Futures' grant scheme will provide investment funding for the purchase of equipment and buildings. Where buildings have already been purchased, the funding will provide capital refurbishment assistance. Vineyard Vale Community Group, Saundersfoot, will receive £50,000 to refurbish an existing park, splitting it into two areas, one for up to 14-year- olds and the other for general community use, including ball games etc. Amroth Parish Hall committee will receive £120,000 for the construction of a new parish hall, as the current hall at Summerhill has deteriorated beyond repair. Announcing the project, the deputy minister for regeneration, Leighton Andrews, said: "This scheme is continuing to make a real difference to communities across Wales. It supports the further creation of new facilities and services for groups at the heart of our communities. "These grants are not simply about improving buildings. They enable all people, young and old, to form new friendships and get involved in social activities. This contributes to the regeneration and vitality of our communities." Pembrokeshire is one of many communities across Wales to benefit from £4.09 million of CFAP funding announced this week. The Welsh Assembly Government received 80 applications under this round of funding.
