Funding avenues will hopefully continue to raise standards of facilities available to the community of Saundersfoot, a county councillor for the seaside village has stated.

Cllr Chris Williams said that he’d recently discussed funding that had come through the ‘Enhancing Pembrokeshire’ scheme.

The Enhancing Pembrokeshire Grant, using funds raised via the Second Homes Tax is available to provide funding for new projects that help address the negative impact of second homes and in doing so adds value to our communities.

“The Sports Club was delighted to receive over thirty thousand pounds, and this money was used for a new roof along with works in both changing rooms,” said Cllr Williams.

“Over the years there hasn’t been funds available to invest in facilities but hopefully now with various individuals applying for grants and to encourage children to play sport that we, as a community, have to raise the standards of the facilities available.

“The playing surface at the sports field is incredible and that is down to the volunteers who put so much time and effort into making sure that residents are able to play cricket and football.
