Two Pembrokeshire businessmen are spearheading their company's £10,000 fund-raising drive to boost an old schoolfriend's trust fund. Father of two Gareth Scotcher, of Tenby, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease three years ago, and the fund to provide future help for his wife Hayley and children Dylan, aged seven, and four- year-old Daisy, has attracted great support. Estate agents Dominic Subbiani and Luke Lawrence, of FBM, have been friends with 37-year-old Gareth since their junior school days in Tenby, and have enlisted all their staff to raise funds. "We wanted to do something that would really make a difference to Gareth's trust fund, and the response we have had from our staff and clients has been superb," said Dominic. Each of the FBM's six offices in Pembrokeshire has been challenged to come up with fund-raising ideas, which include a sky-dive, a half-marathon, a sponsored diet, a walk of the Pembrokeshire coast path, a pub quiz and a coffee morning. The main event will be FBM's first ever charity ball at Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, on Friday, October 5. The £50-a-head ball kicks-off with a champagne reception and three-course a la carte meal with complimentary wine and entertainment from guest speaker Owen Money. The night will be compered by Western Telegraph sports writer Bill Carne, and will conclude with a charity auction. "We've had some brilliant donations for the auction and hope the night will take us up to our fund- raising target," said Dominic. To reserve a table at the ball or make a donation, call Dominic on (01437) 761454 for details.
