In just over a week’s time, Span Arts and co. will take over Narberth’s Town Moor for their yearly family spring event, The BIG Plant Sale!
The BIG Plant sale, now in its 23rd year, is one of the most important dates for all gardeners in Pembrokeshire. With a huge variety of stalls selling the flowers, plants, equipment and other garden paraphernalia, it’s a great chance to add some colour to your garden ready for summer!
Not only is this a must-go event for the green-fingered amongst us, it will be a great day out for the whole family too. Tomorrow (Saturday) you will be able to taste and purchase excellent locally produced food, hear some great live music, and let children enjoy the sunshine with face painting, creative workshops, and a bouncy castle.
This year’s event organisers, Span Arts Cheerful Project, are very excited to be bringing a great range of local talented musicians to play on the live stage. Artists performing include Pembrokeshire band The Sleeping Dogs, a fantastic and dynamic covers band who play a wide variety of genres from the ’60s all the way up to the present day, plus an incredible sea shanty singing group from Fishguard!
The BIG Plant Sale raises funds for Span Arts, the Narberth-based charity committed to providing low-cost, high-quality performances and arts experiences for people from all over Pembrokeshire and beyond.
Gwen Watson, Span Arts’ manager, said: “We believe the arts are invaluable and that everyone should have access to them whatever their background or income. Events like the Plant Sale are essential to help us raise funds so that we can continue to put on high-quality events and keep ticket prices affordable.”
Span Arts welcomes plant donations for their own stall and prizes for their Big Green Raffle, and the charity is always grateful for volunteers to help out on the day in lots of different roles.
Children’s entry is free, and entry for adults is a donation of £2, which goes directly into the running costs of the Plant Sale and to support Span Arts in their delivery of events, workshops and outreach projects for children and adults.
