THE World Famous Moscow State Circus has returned to the United Kingdom after travelling 1,159 miles from Moscow to Haverfordwest, bringing a brand new show featuring a 35-strong cast.

The enviable reputation of Russian circus is based on 200 years of tradition, but in particular 70 years of massive state support under the Communist regime.

However, the fall of communism has thrown this large cultural organisation into disarray, and the future is uncertain. Meantime, we are privileged to be still able to enjoy the glory of this part of Russia's impressive cultural heritage.

The Russian experience includes: The Roubstovs, an 11-person springboard troupe thrusting themselves 20 feet into the air; the world famous award-winning Verushkin clowns and the three Panovs (foot juggling with anything from cigars, barrels, to their own partners!); and finally the death defying high wire walking of Goussein Khamdoullaev on the highest indoor wire in the world.

The entire show is housed in a specially designed big top and is uniquely domed to accommodate the complex rigging for the aerial acts, but is supported by only four 'king' poles so as not to obscure the audiences view.

This once in a lifetime experience is touring the UK and currently be seen at the County Showground, Haverfordwest, until Sunday, March 30. Don't miss it - it could be the last ever tour of what is undoubtedly 'The Greatest Show on Earth'.
