The annual general meeting of Friends of the Community was held last Thursday in Church House, Tenby.

There were representatives of many organisations at the meeting.

The 21st AGM was opened by chairman Roland Grigg, who asked Canon David Jenkins to given an opening address.

The minutes of annual general meeting 2002 were read and duly approved.

The treasurer, Mr. Eirian Williams, gave his report and informed the meeting that the income had decreased slightly compared to last year, but even so, thanks to the hard work of the committee and the generosity of many local people and organisations, it was still a very successful year.

He thanked Roland and his committee for their hard work, as well as Mrs. Jean MacDonald and Mr. Adrian Thomas, of Barclays Bank, for their work in keeping the accounts straight.

In his report, chairman Roland Grigg reported that it had been another good year in terms of donations and the accounts were looking very healthy. Roland stated that over the last five years Friends of the Community have spent over £60,000 purchasing equipment which has benefited very many patients and this figure is to be increased this year.

Thanks were given to everybody in the community who had helped with work, donations etc. The list of people and organisations was too numerous to mention. Roland also thanked Charles Birt and Co. for sponsoring the printing and stationery.

The committee was re-elected as a whole, except for Mr. Gwynfor Davies, who was reluctantly standing down, having been on the committee from the outset 21 years ago; he will be sorely missed. This was proposed by Rev. David Jenkins and seconded by Mr. Robert Mayhew.

Senior District Nurse Phil Smith thanked Roland and the committee for another excellent year in giving another £20,000 worth of vital equipment for his team to use.

A very successful coffee morning was held on Saturday and the brisk business resulted in raising £356.

Friends of the Community will be manning a stall at the Christmas Fayre in New Hedges on December 20.

A short committee meeting followed the AGM.

Next committee meeting is February 4, 2004, at 4.30 pm, at Tenby Health Centre.
