The AGM of the Friends recently took place. Mrs. Helen Hills was re-elected to the post of chairman and Harry Gardiner became vice- chairman. Margaret Day and Valerie Cochlin were confirmed in their posts as treasurer and minutes secretary. A new member of the committee was welcomed, namely Kathy Talbot, who has taken up the challenge of secretary, a position which has been vacant for the last two years. Other members of the committee, John Beynon, Isabel Copp, Dorothy Bailey, Ann Draper, Josie Radford and Joyce Mawdsley, were re-elected. Members present heard that the Friends had handed £12,500 to the museum for refurbishment of the lower gallery. This large sum was made possible by the holding of an art auction last year. The evening ended with an exchange of ideas for the future over coffee and biscuits. It was disappointing that so few of the 300 members attended and it is hoped for more support next year. The Friends' Annual Dinner took place last month at the Park Hotel. Thanks go to them for their excellent service. The after-dinner speaker was John Tipton, who gave a most interesting talk on the Llangollen Festival from its conception to the present day. Winners of the 100 Club for April were Mr. and Mrs. Markes with their ticket number 46 and second prize went to Mr. Mason with ticket number 78. Anyone wishing to join the Friends and support the museum should contact the treasurer, Margaret Day, on 844633.
