At the annual general meeting of the Friends, held last Thursday, the chair was taken by the vice-chairman, Mrs. Helen Hills, as the retiring chairman was unable to be present. Mrs. Hills was then elected as chairman to follow Mr. Brian McMahon, who had held the post for the last seven years. Two of the stalwart members of the committee, Mrs. Mary Simmonds and Mr. Jeff Thomas, had resigned. As hard-working members of the committee, they will be sorely missed. With the officers being prepared to remain in their posts for a further year, the present committee was then elected en-bloc. Items of interest: Unfortunately, there will be no Craft Fair this year, although the Spring Coffee Morning will be held at the Pam Pam Restaurant on Friday, May 13. The Naomi Tydeman picture was won by Mrs. Margaret Miller, of Saundersfoot, who was delighted with her prize. The annual dinner, which was again held at the Broadmead Hotel, was a great success and enjoyed by all. John Beynon, curator of Tenby Museum, was guest speaker and he was most entertaining. He was presented with a retiring gift of his choice, by the vice-chairman of the Friends, which had been purchased by generous donations from the members. His choice was an original watercolour painting of Monkstone Point by local artist Naomi Tydeman. Thanks go to John for all he has achieved at the museum during his 10 years as hon. curator. Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of the Museum and helping in their valuable work, is asked contact the Friends' membership secretary, Mrs. M. Day, on 01834 844633.
