The annual general meeting of the Friends of South Pembrokeshire Hospital was held last week at the Cleddau River Day Unit. The officers and members were joined by Lisa Lloyd from Tescos in Pembroke Dock, three of the five Mason sisters, Tilly Morrissey, manager of the Centre, and Val Beynon, who is in charge of the Day Unit. The chairman, Sue Paterson-Jones, reported on a very fulfilling year which saw the group raising over £11,000 - bringing the total amount raised to over £30,000 since its formation three years ago. All the events held last year were mentioned. The list of equipment bought for the Centre was also brought to the attention of everyone. Tilly pointed out how invaluable these items are for both the Day Unit and the Sunderland Ward. Sue also thanked many local companies who had provided monetary support to the Friends. Last but by no means least, she thanked the people of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock for attending the various events, especially the Autumn Bazaar held in the Day Unit. The events for this year have already been mapped out and are always clearly displayed on the Friends' notice board at South Pembs. The first one will be a coffee morning at Pembroke Town Hall on Tuesday, June 13. This year there will be a spectacular Summer Fete in the grounds and day centre of the hospital on Saturday, July 26 -please make a note of the day, as it will be full of fun and surprises. If anyone would like to know more about the Friends, please phone Sue on 01646 682596.
