This is now the most exciting time in the history of Narberth pool since it first opened as we move into the final stages of our campaign.

The share offer is now open, raising awareness and interest both locally and globally of our efforts to transform the pool facility into a community-owned resource that not only will continue to provide the services we all have enjoyed over many years, but open up a space for new possibilities that could engage a much wider range of experience and benefit for Narberth and surrounding areas.

Possible projects include the opening of a café and spa facilities, including such features as sauna, hot-tub or jacuzzi, and developing a wider range of therapeutic activities.

You will find the share offer and business plan are now online at the Narberth Energy and Swim Narberth websites and I would encourage you to have a look at what is being proposed, if you have not already done so.

SHARE OFFER LAUNCH

We had an extraordinary day on Saturday, October 4, with many of Friends of Narberth Pool available to talk through the share offer, as well as offering taster sessions of aqua fit, hydro-cycling, canoe club, lifesaving and finishing the evening with candle-lit swim to the soothing sounds of classical and ambient music.

The candle-lit swim is something we would like to do more of, as well as introducing Watsu (a water-based Shiatsu therapy) which was tested out on some of the children that night. They totally loved it.

The day was a great success, with many people taking share offer forms away with them to fill in and send off. Thanks to all the lifeguards, volunteers, cake bakers and instructors who volunteered their time and to all the families who came along on the day to support us.

NEW OFFICE AT

SPAN ARTS

We now have an office in Narberth town centre where you can bring in your completed share offer forms, gift aid forms and donations. The office will be open on Tuesday mornings, 10 am - 2 pm, and Thursday afternoons, 1-5 pm, so you can pop in and pick up a document or discuss the share offer. It is recommended that anyone considering buying a share in Narberth Energy also takes independent legal advice.

SHARE OFFER

As of Monday, we have now raised £38,000 in actual shares bought. This figure does not include the many pledges to buy shares or give donations that we received over the last couple of months that have not yet been paid in.

We are now going through the lists to remind everyone that now is the time to be completing the forms and sending in cheques. If you know you have made a pledge or if you are still interested in finding out more, please contact us as soon as possible.

Any cheques and payments can also be sent to our treasurer, Ruth Barnes, at 4 Wells Terrace, Narberth, SA67 7AJ.

FUNDRAISING EVENT

Jenny Price is organising a Body Shop party tomorrow (Saturday, October 18), 4.30-7 pm, at her house in Mill Lane, Narberth. There will be all sorts of lovely smellies and gifts made from natural ingredients which could make Christmas shopping simply done and dusted! All profits will be going to Swim Narberth. If you are interested to come along and bring your friends, please call Jenny on 07975 724115. There will be food available, but please bring a bottle of wine. You can drop in any time.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

We are still looking for a business development manager to oversee the business of managing the swimming pool after we take over on November 1. There will be more details about this post available in the next couple of weeks as we head towards our goal of taking over from Pembrokeshire County Council. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Sue Rees at [email protected]">[email protected]

We are now well on our way to reaching our target of £120,000, but we need to have the pledges for shares and donations converted into cash at the earliest opportunity. We very much appreciate your support.
