For the first time, PLANED's training course for festival and event organisers is going to take place in the Welsh language. Are you involved in organising shows, events or festivals in your community in Pembrokeshire? Would you like to be involved in organising events? Have you got an idea for an event and would like advice on how to go about it? Perhaps you would like to explore ways of adding value to your event? or receive up-to-the-minute information on where and how to find funding? Would you like to meet other people organising events in Pembrokeshire and learn from their experience? Then get involved in PLANED's Community Events and Festivals Training Programme! This programme was launched successfully at the beginning of 2003 and already more than 130 people have participated. Two courses will be taking places in November, free of charge. A course in the English language will take place in Robeston Wathen on Tuesday evenings November 2, 9, 16 and 23, and in the Welsh language in Square and Compass on Thursday evenings November 4, 11, 18 and 25. For each course there will be four evening sessions which take place once a week from 6.45-9 pm. Sessions are led by facilitators with expertise in different areas, including officers from Pembrokeshire County Council licensing section and Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services. All participants will be presented with a certificate and will receive a free copy of PLANED's Organising Community Events and Festivals handbook. The sessions are as follows: Event planning and risk assessment (November 2 or 4); funding your event (November 9 or 11); licensing (November 23 or 18); and writing press releases (November 16 or 25). For further information or to reserve a place, contact Helen Thomas on (01834) 862111 or Dewi Smith (Welsh language) on (01834) 862103. This work is funded under PLANED's EU LEADER+ programme which is part-funded by the Welsh Development Agency, the Welsh Assembly Government, and ELWa.
