Cadw, the Welsh Assembly's Historic Environment Service, will celebrate St. David's Day on March 1 by offering free admission to its paying monuments. The policy, which extends to all Cadw's directly managed properties, is part of the Welsh Assembly's policy to widen access to everyone to the historic environment of Wales.

Every one of Cadw's sites in care which normally charge entry will be included as part of the celebrations apart from four sites - Carreg Cennen, Cilgerran, Dolwyddelan and Weobley Castles - which are subject to joint management agreements. Alun Pugh, Culture Minister, said: "Following the success of last year's decision to allow free entry on St. David's Day we hope many more people will take this opportunity to visit a site in Cadw's care and appreciate for themselves the magnificence of Wales' historic environment."
