The sudden appearance of a field of wild flower has bemused the residents and visitors to Amroth.

The slopes and hillsides, on the Church Lane area are carpeted with the purple hues of the common foxglove.

Covering an area of some three acres, which borders the highway, the flower is shown in all its splendour.

The common foxglove, or digitalis purpurea, usually found on a woodland edge, or a recently cleared woodland.

These hills, cleared of woodland a few seasons previous, have formed a natural habitat for this plant.

Disturbing the soil has encouraged growth, which in its first year, the plant will only produce a stalk.

This would appear to be the year for bloom, spreading its colour along the hillside.
