There was another wonderful turnout of walkers for the fourth 'Walk in the Park' round Llys-y-Fran reservoir on June 8. Although it was damp and muddy underfoot, the weather for walking was superb, with no rain and sunny skies, together with the wonderful scenery.
Over 100 walkers enjoyed the afternoon, and raised what is promised to be in excess of £2,000 for Diabetes UK.
Walkers came from far and wide, one travelling all the way from Sussex to take part in the event. This event has now become so popular that walkers from previous years are out to beat their personal best times, whilst others enjoy a stroll and a chat while going around.
All the money raised in these walks throughout the UK, goes to research projects in the care and control of diabetes. With diabetes being on the increase, and still millions of people out there who remain undiagnosed, these much-needed funds are essential.
The organisers of the event wish to thank Safeway, of Haverfordwest, Co-operative, of Kilgetty, Somerfield, of Tenby, and Tesco, of Carmarthen, for providing the squash and biscuits for the refreshments points situated along the six-and-a-half-mile route; Morris Bros., of Tenby, and Hugh Davies, of the Wimpy, Saundersfoot, who gave equipment to aid the smooth running of the event,; and all the people who donated raffle prizes, plus the many supporters who helped out on the day, and once again made the walk the tremendous success that it was
