Four contestants have thrown their hat into the ring in the battle to serve Whitland on Carmarthenshire County Council.

Current member, Clr. Sue Allen (Independent) is being challenged by Diane Evans (Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales), Huw Llewellyn Jones (Welsh Liberal Democrat) and Steve Morris (Welsh Labour).

Meanwhile, electors will also be going to the polls on May 3 to elect members to the town council.

In the north ward, the candidates are Sue Allen, Diane Evans (Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales), Raymond Jones, Margaret Ann Keen, Vivienne Morris (Welsh Labour), Derek Ivor Rees, Len Shipton, while standing in the south division are Bentley Evans, Jean Jenkins, Neil Jenkins, Ron Jenkins, Huw Morgan, Val Phillips, Dave Randell, Michelle Williams.

There are six seats available for the north ward and seven for the south.
