Riding at the Carmarthenshire Hunt point to point steeplechases held at Erw Lon last weekend, local jockey, John Mathias, rode home four tremendous winners and was also placed in the sixth race on the card.
John had three winners in succession at the start of the programme: Christine Toy's 10-year-old chestnut gelding, Tokpela, who came in at 5- 4 in the Hunt Members race; Dewi Lewis's eight-year-old bay Balearic Star at an incredible 20-1 in the Men's Open and two other Tivyside qualifiers owned and trained by Dai Rees - the promising young French bred Paktol des Brosses who returned 3-1 in the Intermediate and the Irish bred Kisha King who came it at 5-1 in the Restricted.
Jodie Hughes also had a winner and was placed in two other races and, not to be outdone, Dan Mascutt came home from a strong field in a close second place on the 15-year-old grey South Pembs. qualifier, Cinnamon, in the 138cm pony race to take the lead in the Grant Lewis 2009 bloodstock challenge.
