Owners of unusual and exotic pets in the Tenby, Narberth and Whitland area are being asked to join in the furry and feathered fun for the NCH Cymru Pets Walk for Children campaign.

Summer, the three-year-old llama, added her support to the autumn fund-raising campaign for leading children's charity, NCH Cymru.

Pet owners in coastal towns and villages across South Wales are being asked to bring their pets along to a park or promenade on the seafront for a sponsored Pet Walk or Pet Promenade aimed at raising funds for vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

NCH Cymru has been helping disadvantaged children in Wales since 1911 and now runs over 60 projects across Wales. In Pembrokeshire, the charity operates the Pembrokeshire Children's Centre in Haverfordwest.

Nina Ping, NCH Cymru's fund-raising co-ordinator for South Wales, said: "Pet Promenades are a really easy and imaginative way for pet owners to make a fund-raising contribution to our wide-ranging work in Wales supporting children, young people and families who are in difficulties and who are trying meet the challenges of disability or disadvantage."

Nina added: "We are inviting pet owners in Pembrokeshire to get together with their pets for a short sponsored walk in a seaside or river-walk location close to where they live. Pets already signed up for future pet walks range from Great Dane dogs to white rats and gerbils. There may even be the odd over-talkative parrot or well- groomed Shetland pony."

Anyone in Pembrokeshire who would like to organise a Pet Walk for NCH Cymru, please contact Nina Ping on (01443) 404365.
