Angle RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was alerted on Tuesday afternoon following a report of a person in the water off Warrior Way, Pembroke Dock.
The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched just before 4 pm and while en route it was confirmed that the casualty, who was wearing a lifejacket, had fallen overboard from his tender and had been helped ashore by nearby fishermen.
With the casualty in the care of Ambulance and Coastguard personnel, the lifeboat was released from this incident at 4.11 pm and tasked to investigate an object, about 12 feet long and buoyant in the area of St. Ann’s Head, at the entrance to the Milford Haven Waterway.
Once on scene at 4.44 pm, and after confirming with the first informant, it was found that the object was the St. Ann’s Buoy - a port lateral mark. The buoy looked unusual as the top half had been damaged in the recent bad weather.
With no more assistance required, the lifeboat was released and returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 5.10 pm.
Eight hours later, shortly after 1 am on Wednesday, the lifeboat was launched to assist Dyfed Powys Police with a despondent male on the Cleddau Bridge, Pembroke Dock. The lifeboat stood by at the scene, in case she was needed. But, after about 15 minutes, the situation was resolved and the lifeboat was released at 1.34 am to return to her station.
It was the fourth task in five days for the lifeboat station. On Saturday at 6.09 pm, the all-weather lifeboat had been launched to investigate reports of a red flare sighting off The Rath, Milford Haven.
Once on scene, a search was started and after about 45 minutes, with nothing untoward found, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 7.08pm.
