Tenby RNLI have received a boost from a special fundraiser held by St. Catherine’s Island.
Island manager Andi Jones recently presented a cheque for £756.90 to Tenby RNLI coxswain Phil John, following a ‘Wishes, Dreams and Prayers’ fundraiser at the fort last year.
“People were able to donate what they wanted to the RNLI and then write down their wish, dream or prayer on a brightly coloured piece of paper, before rolling it up and popping it into one of the hundreds of small holes that are in the air bricks in one of our walls at St Catherine’s,” said Andi.
“At the end of the year on the Winter Solstice, a model Viking longboat containing all the wishes, dreams and prayers will be set alight and sent out to sea, allowing them to be free to the universe.”
The Island’s chosen subject for fundraising this year is the ’Pembrokeshire Hogspital’ run by Ginny Batt (who has strong connections to St Catherine’s) and her husband Russ along with various volunteers, rescuing sick and injured hedgehogs throughout Pembrokeshire.
