Tenby Post Office will officially open its doors to customers today (Friday).
Former Wales and Cardiff rugby star and current director of Welsh affairs for Royal Mail Group, Gareth Davies will be cutting the ribbon, heralding a new era for the Post Office branch.
As recently featured in the Observer, the Post Office branch in Warren Street, has undergone a major refurbishment resulting in a modern, open plan office. The outlet has also enhanced its convenience store and now offers a far greater range of groceries and provisions.
Subpostmaster, Mr. John Murphy who took over the running of the Post Office branch in 2001, is delighted with the new look.
He said: "I've had very positive feedback from customers already and I'm delighted with how things have turned out.
"Everyone's been really helpful, and I'm grateful to Post Office Ltd. and Today Group for the support and assistance they've given me to help make these changes possible. I want to give my customers more choice, and although there is competition nearby, I believe there is room for us all to prosper, provided we're giving people the service they want," continued Mr. Murphy.
To celebrate the opening, Mr. Murphy has organised a raffle for customers old and new. The prizes include a meal for two, donated by the Tenby House Hotel, a bunch of flowers, donated by Bunches, and a £10 Post Office phonecard. The draw will be held at midday.
Gareth Davies, director of Welsh affairs for Royal Mail Group, said: "I'm delighted to be re-opening Tenby Post Office following this major refurbishment. I know John and his staff have worked tirelessly to bring a state-of-the-art Post Office to Tenby and I would like to wish them well in their new venture."
