A former three times Mayor of Pembroke is the new chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council.

Aden Brinn JP, was invested with the chain of office at the authority’s annual meeting in County Hall, Haverfordwest.

He succeeds Clr. Paul Harries, of Newport.

Clr. Brinn, 63, is a member of the Conservative group on the council and represents the Pembroke St. Michael electoral division.

He is currently serving his second spell as a County Councillor and has been a member of Pembroke Town Council for 21 years.

Pembrokeshire-born and bred he worked for the well-known family furniture business of T. L. Bowling in Commercial Row, Pembroke Dock, for 25 years.

He later worked at Neyland marina and is now night manager at the Lamphey Court Hotel.

Clr. Brinn served as a Special Constable with Dyfed-Powys Police for 20 years and is an hon. life member of the Welsh Guards. He is also a Burgess of the Pembroke Gild of Freemen.

His consort for his year of office will be another former Mayor of Pembroke, serving town councillor Mrs. Rose Blackburn. Clr. Mrs. Blackburn is also the Pembroke Town Crier.

At Friday’s meeting, he was proposed as chairman by Clr. Rob Summons, seconded by Clr. Simon Hancock.

Clr. Dr. Simon Hancock was elected vice-chairman.

Council leader, Clr. David Simpson JP, proposed a vote of thanks to the outgoing chairman.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed, Miss Sara Edwards, attended the annual meeting as a guest.
