Following a request from Reynalton Residents’ Association, Pembrokeshire County Council has been approached to reopen the circular footpath from Reynalton to Loveston Wood and back to Reynalton.
The circular walk starts by Reynalton’s village green and finishes by St James’s Church, a grade II medieval building in Reynalton. Originally, this path would have been established for locals to walk to church easily.
Funding has already been secured by Kilgetty Begelly Community Council through the Welsh Government’s Outdoor Connections Fund (administered by the Pembrokeshire Association for Voluntary Services – PAVS) to replace a footbridge over a stream which was washed away by floods several years ago.
A further application has been submitted by the Community Council, again through the Outdoor Connections Fund, for replacement gates and signage.
County Councillor for the ward of Kilgetty and Begelly, Cllr Alistair Cameron who has now approached PCC on the matter, said: “Reopening this footpath would enable local residents and tourists to enjoy a tranquil woodland setting and fabulous scenery as they followed the footsteps of our ancestors many years ago.
“It will also enable walkers to explore the Landsker Borderlands Trail which forms part of this circular walk.”
