Don't worry if you are passing Saundersfoot's Regency Hall and see something green poking through the roof - it's only the beanstalk growing in readiness for Saundersfoot Footlights' pantomime, 'Jack and the Beanstalk'! The traditional story of Jack, who sells the family cow for a bag of beans, has been adapted by Helen Wright, who has been directing the cast of over 50, ranging in age from seven upwards, since early September. Although there are many familiar faces, there are also new ones, including one lady in the chorus who is all the way from Canada! Jack is being played by Andrea Thomas, her first time as principal boy, and the 'baddie' - Grim the Giant's henchman in the form of newcomer Roger Leese - well, prepare to hate him, which won't be difficult. 'Jack and the Beanstalk' will be at the Regency Hall from Monday, December 6 to Friday December 10, doors opening at 6.45 pm, curtain 7.30 pm, and on Saturday, December 11, doors opening 1.45 pm, curtain 2.30 pm. Tickets will be on sale at Evans Newsagents, Saundersfoot, and Reohorn Amusements, Pembroke Dock, and cost £3.50 for adults, with children and senior citizens £2.50. Sponsorship for the promotion of the production has been kindly provided by Pembrokeshire Tourism in conjunction with the South West Wales Regional Tourism Partnership. Thanks must also go to Footlights president Dave John for his support for this production. As a footnote, auditions are to be held at the FEC Saundersfoot for next year's musical, 'Pirates of Penzance', on Wednesday, January 5, at 7 pm and Sunday, January 9, at 2 pm.
