Folly Farm, Begelly, enters the festive season this week with a generous gift for one of their chosen charities, Wildlife Vets International. Head keeper Tim Morphew was delighted to present Santa with a cheque for £450 to deliver as a Christmas gift to the charity. Since the arrival of their endangered fossa in late August, zoo staff have been collecting donations and selling badges to caring guests during their educational feeding talks at some of the park's endangered animal enclosures. The money will be sent to WVI to fund projects abroad, offering essential veterinary care to some of the world's most endangered animals. Said Tim Morphew: "It's a wonderful compliment to the conservation work that we're doing here in the zoo through our breeding programmes, to also be able to help endangered animals in the wild. WVI run so many worthwhile projects and it's a pleasure to be able to help them. So our thanks go to all the kind guests who have supported us." The gift comes as a kick-start to the park's Christmas season, which begins on tomorrow (Saturday). Added Tim: "The park is always full of festive cheer in the run-up to Christmas, and it's nice to harness a bit of that goodwill and help out the organisations we really care about- and this one is very close to our hearts." Santa can be seen at Folly Farm, along with his friendly reindeer and a host of endangered animals, every Saturday and Sunday from now until December 17.
