TWO of the leading folk musicians in Wales, Sian Phillips and Danny Kilbride, will be in Narberth next Saturday, April 12.

Sian Phillips is Wales' leading folk fiddler, and her professional career has seen her perform at festivals, concerts, workshops and seminars throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. She has played with the Constitution Hillbillies, Heather Jones, Meic Stevens and Wild Welsh Women.

Sian Phillips plays her great-great-grandfather's fiddle, continuing the family tradition. She has also featured in numerous television and radio folk programmes over the past 17 years.

Danny Kilbride was part of the ground-breaking Welsh language band Yr Hwntws. He regularly performs and records with Huw and Tony Williams and works with his brothers Bernard and Gerard as the Kilbride Brothers and has worked on TV projects, one-off compositions and toured extensively. His guitar playing is extraordinary.

Danny Kilbride is also chair of TRAC, the strategic development organisation for folk music in Wales, and a member of the Folk Section Committee of the Musicians' Union Combined.

Their duo playing brings their experiences together in a delightful way and provides thoroughly enjoyable musical entertainment.

They have one CD on release, 'Jac tô Bach' - the little jackdaw - and are aiming to release their new CD, 'Godidog' - Excellent! - this summer.

Sian will be giving tuition to the 'Tunes Through', traditional music makers on the morning of Saturday, April 12, and the duo will give a concert the same evening.

The event is sure to be a lively one as Sian and Danny have set out to show the world what fun Welsh music can be. Their concert will take place in the Span building and starts at 8 pm (£5, members £4).
