Worship on Sunday was led by the Rev. Nanette Lewis-Head. As the congregation, which included many visitors and friends, entered the church, they were greeted by the playing of the music group, Mollie (piano), Jim, Lara, Molly (violins), Rachel (clarinet) and Melanie (percussion), a popular addition to services. The organist was Mrs. Sheila John.

On behalf of the young people, Ceri read the words of welcome, "We come to this place to offer our praise and thanksgiving. O come let us worship the Lord." An appropriate welcome on a day when the sanctuary was ablaze with the glorious colour of the daffodils, the displays depicting the theme for this year's festival, "Love is....." The words 'GOD IS LOVE' taking centre stage.

Nanette talked to the young people of the message of God's love, sometime challenging, but always comforting.

The singing group and the music group then joined together for the hymns, 'The Lord is my Shepherd' and 'As the Deer Pants'.

Before the young people left for their own classes, Dylan and Kacey were each wished a happy birthday.

The scripture readings were taken from the Old Testament, Genesis, chapter 17, verses 1-12 and 17-18, 'God's covenant with Abram,' and the New Testament, 'Jesus' love for Jerusalem,' Luke chapter 13, verses 31-35. They were read by Mrs. Bron Hurlow.

"Our guiding scripture today is Psalm 27," began Nanette in her address. "The Lord is my light and my salvation." There are time when we feel that we do not have the protective love of God. It is at those times that we must listen to the voice of God that calls us. It is not a call that nothing bad will ever happen to us, God tells us that we will not be alone but always surrounded by his love. To trust in God's love is to believe that his steadfast love endures forever.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion was then shared.

As the music group played to conclude worship, the congregation was able to reflect on the message of the sermon and to enjoy the beauty of the flowers.

A sumptuous faith lunch was shared, a fitting end to a joyous morning's worship. Thank you, Nanette, for being with us on this special family day.

This Sunday, worship will be at 11 am and will be led by the Rev. Adrian Davies. All are welcome.

It was with much sadness that the congregation heard of the death of Mrs. Joan Mull. The members of St. Johns send her family their deepest sympathy. Mrs. Mull's funeral will take place today (Friday) at 2 pm at St. Johns Church.
