Due to flooding and the severe impact around parts of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire yesterday evening, motorists and members of the public are being warned to be vigilant this morning, and observe road closure/flooding signs. A ‘rest centre’ for those in need at Carmarthen Leisure Centre has also been set up, due to the severe flooding in the Whitland and St Clears areas.

A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council said this morning (November 5): “There is still a lot of surface water flooding on roads, coumpounded by fluvial flooding, creating challenges throughout the county and neighbouring counties.

“Please be vigilant on the roads this morning and observe road closure/flooding signs and do not drive through floodwater. Emergency Services and Highways team are under significant pressure and our teams will be assessing the situation in daylight.”

“Rain will ease during the course of the morning which will improve the situation.”

Carmarthenshire County Council have set up a ‘rest centre’ for those in need at Carmarthen Leisure Centre due to flooding and the severe impact in the Whitland and St Clears areas.

A spokesperson for the Local Authority said: “We are also continuing to support individuals in these areas. Any person seeking shelter due to flooding can attend Carmarthen Leisure Centre.

“Our crews have been working throughout the night and are still on site this morning in various locations throughout the county dealing with the impact of the flooding.

“Please exercise caution when travelling this morning – do not drive through flood water.”
