The Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition was held at the Nantyffin Motel, Llandissilio. Nine young musicians from Rotary Zone One (Aberystwyth to Saundersfoot) took part, with the adjudicators being Tim Bourne, Sharron Lusher and Rhiannon Lewis - experienced professional musicians who have helped Rotary before in this competition.
The adjudicators paid tribute to the very high standard achieved by the competitors. They had to choose between two outstanding young musicians, Llewelyn Jones from Aberaeron, who played the harp, and flautist Rebecca Griffiths from Milford Haven. They finally chose Rebecca as the winner. The competition was organized by the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland and was compered by Rotarian Chris Cho-Young. Introduction and thanks were proposed by president Robert Elward. Rebecca will go forward to represent the zone in the District Final in Brecon.
