A report to the Operations Room at Milford Haven Coastguard at 7 pm on Sunday from a concerned visitor in Wiseman's Bridge, stating he could see a flashing light on Monkstone Point, sent Tenby's coastguard rescue team and the RNLI inshore lifeboat rushing to the scene. On their arrival and after making enquiries with the worried man, it was established that the light he could see was in fact the 'Spaniel Buoy' permanently sited off Monkstone Point. Said Angie Smith, DPRO, Milford Haven Coastguard: "Flashing buoys are often confused by visitors and locals alike with persons being in trouble. "Often the lights cannot be seen from land or the person reporting has not seen the buoy's lights at night, all causing concern. "Never be afraid to report your concern if you do see what appears to be strange lights. "The coastguards will always investigate and put your mind at rest. Your one sighting or your concerns that there is something wrong could be the only information the coastguards receive of a person or vessel in trouble."
