A Flag Day collection was held on May 31 by the Saundersfoot, Tenby and District Committee of Macmillan Cancer Support (formerly called Macmillan Cancer Relief).

Collectors in Saundersfoot, Tenby, New Hedges, Kilgetty and St. Florence raised an impressive total of £1,554.60.

Chairman, Lady Meyrick, who co-ordinated the Flag Day, would all like to thank all the collectors who gave their time, and the public who donated so generously to the cause.

The charity provides its trademark Macmillan nurses. It also funds other specialist nurses and doctors, buildings for cancer treatment and care, grants for patients in financial difficulties, educational projects and information services, all of which help make the lives of many cancer patients and their families easier.

All money raised locally for Macmillan is now being paid in to their South and West Wales Appeal. This aim is to raise £800,000 over three years, to be spent on services in South Wales, West of Neath. It is of special interest to local supporters that there will be a fourth Macmillan nurse in Pembrokeshire.

Macmillan Cancer Support's services are free and are funded almost entirely through the kindness and generosity of supporters, so all the donations received were most gratefully accepted.
