Three members of the Chevron & Eddies Snooker Bar Pembrokeshire Referees' Society have achieved the promotion criteria to reach level 6 in relation to their fitness, including Angus Scourfield, of Whitland, the newest recruit to the society..

Tom Bevan, of Clarbeston Road, and the Trecwn based former Goodwick player, Kevin Bowen, are the other two successful referees.

In recent weeks, the trio have been put though their paces by WWFA Referees Officer John Gow in fitness tests at Haverfordwest and Llanelli.

The three referees had to run over 2,400 metres in 12 minutes, followed by two 200-metre sprints in 35 seconds and two 50-metre sprints in seven seconds.

Society secretary Jonathan Twigg congratulated the three referees on their achievement.

On a sadder note, Mr. Twigg extended the deepest sympathy of society members to president Danny Thomas, who lost his wife June recently after a brave battle against her illness. This is coupled with wishing a speedy return to health for Phil Gale, the Letterston referee, who is taking a sabbatical from the game until his health improves.

Sympathy has also been extended to the family of former FAW secretary Alun Evans who died recently.
