More details are emerging about the attractions lined up for the third Pembrokeshire Fish Week from Saturday, June 29 to Sunday, July 7.
There is something for everyone, no matter where you reside in Pembrokeshire, from Saundersfoot to St. Davids, from Llawhaden to Llys-y-Fran.
"We have endeavoured to make it a real county-wide event this year," explained organiser, Kate Morgan, Pembrokeshire County Council's food officer.
"Wherever you live in Pembrokeshire, there will be a Fish Week event near you. We are looking to cater for everyone who enjoys fish and seafood, including those who catch fish and those who eat it.
"Over 100 hospitality establishments are taking part along with a score of local fish retailers and wholesalers. There will be numerous opportunities to sample fresh local fish and shellfish at its best as well as the wines to go with it."
This year's theme fish is mackerel which during the week can be found in abundance around the Pembrokeshire coast. Why not arrange a family mackerel fishing trip and to cook your catch, try one of the dishes form the special Fish Week recipe leaflet which includes contributions from Rick Stein and local chefs.
The festival programme opens with a fun day starting at 11 am at Milford Marina on Saturday, June 29, from where BBC Radio Wales' Kevin Hughes will be broadcasting live.
Events include fish cookery exhibitions by Welsh celebrity chef and journalist, Colin Pressdee, a speed fish-filleting competition, live music as well as children's entertainment, angling displays and food and craft stalls.
Those who wish to try their hand at fishing are well catered for throughout Fish Week with free lessons for children, women and the disabled at Llsy-y-Fran on Sunday, June 30, and free introductory lessons in coarse fishing from former world champion Ian Heaps at his Llawhaden fishery on the opening day.
From Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 5, Ian is holding the heats of the Holgan Fishing Championship Festival with the grand final on the Saturday.
Night fishing classes are taking place at Blackpool Mill on Wednesday, July 3, while Sunday, July 7, sees an Open Sea Fishing Competition at Milford Haven, and a free junior course fishing event at Llyn Carfan, Tavernspite.
For those who prefer to cook and eat fish, rather than catch it, Pembrokeshire Fish Week offers a selection of cookery demonstrations.
On Thursday, July 4, the Picton Centre in Haverfordwest, will host a Charity Fish Master Class featuring celebrity chef Angela Grey and local fish craftsman Steven McKay. Angela will also be in action at Haverfordwest Farmers' Market on Friday, July 5.
