But, with a few players back in the squad, there was a chink of hope in the changing rooms, especially when manager Robbie Izzard decided to don the yellow shirt after a three-year absence.
The game started with Manorbier, against a strong wind, having to do a lot of defending, but with Terry George, Steve Lloyd Thomas and Shane Taylor playing very well, they grew in confidence and started to apply their own pressure.
They duly scored following a good move, which starting with Ben Hall making a good run up the right wing and then passing inside to Paul Maytum, whose shot took a deflection into the path of new boy Austin John, who, with a cracking shot, left the 'keeper with no chance.
Manorbier came close on a number of occasions as the game was evenly balanced by the half-time whistle.
In the second half, Manorbier had the wind advantage, so were expecting an easy time of it in defence, but Kilgetty seemed to push them back even harder.
The old legs of Paul and Robbie in midfield were starting to find the going tough, with Robbie having gone past his second wind, and onto his fifth or sixth!
The front three, Phil Chris, Ben Hall and Phil McQueeny were struggling to make headway up front with little support. But Manorbier dug in and defended well, with only Mike Brown getting booked in a highly competitive match.
Manorbier were glad to hear the final whistle and record their first win of the season.
Mention should be made of Jamesy who had a great game in goal, saving with every part of his body and requiring quite a lot of first aid.
Players are reminded about training on Wednesday evening.
