There was a good turnout at the first drop-in session on the proposed regeneration of the dock and marina area in Milford Haven, held on June 28, with almost all attendees receptive to the idea of a redevelopment that would attract visitors and boost economic activity.
However, Mark Andrews, the port's corporate affairs director, said some had emphasised the need for development plans to fit with existing town shopping and services.
"A critical part of the Milford Dock Master Plan, as it is called, is to support and complement the existing town centre. This is reflected in plans to build a multi-storey car park linking the waterside to existing shops on Hamilton Terrace, though we would welcome any other ideas people have on how to harmonise the development with the town."
The port was grateful that so many people came to find out more about its recent development proposals and to express their opinions.
"This is what we want at this planning stage - as many views as possible on how the dock area and the Haven as a whole can be improved," Mr Andrews said.
"I would encourage anyone who couldn't make the meeting last week to share their thoughts at our next public event on July 19, from 4 - 8 pm at Suite 5, Cedar Court, Milford Haven (behind Tesco, near the Library). This session will include a presentation of draft plans, having listened to the community's feedback to date. Details will be advertised in the local press in due course."
