To help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Tenby Observer, local schoolchildren are being asked to design us a birthday greeting.

Every month throughout this milestone year, one school is being asked to create birthday posters, all of which will then be displayed at our offices in Warren Street.

The entries will be independently judged and a prize will be given to the best greeting, while at the end of the year all the winning drawings will again be judged, with the overall winner receiving £100 for their school.

The first to take part have been the pupils at Penally VC School, who have designed an array of colourful and imaginative posters, all of which were admired by our proprietor and chairman, Sir Ray Tindle, when he paid a visit to Tenby on Monday.

This month's joint winners were Harriet D'Ortez, of Year Six, and Alex Thomas, of Class One, who are seen above receiving their prizes from our general manager, Mrs. Clare Townend.

Also in the picture is headteacher, Mrs. Julie Mathias.
