ON Thursday, March 2, the Rt. Hon. Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales, rang the NASDAQ Stock Market closing bell in Times Square, New York City, as part of the St. David’s Day celebrations.
The First Minister was joined by Ty Francis, executive vice-president at Ethisphere in New York, who also serves as the First Minister’s ‘special business advocate’ in the USA, alongside members of the Welsh Government.
Mr. Francis, who accompanied the First Minister for a third time, is a former pupil of Tenby’s Greenhill School pupil. He has lived in New York City for 10 years with his wife Alayna, daughter Seren and son Henry.
As the only head of government to ring the opening and closing bells at the New York Stock Exchange, it was a further thrill for the First Minister to ring the closing bell at NASDAQ going live across US and Global networks to deliver the Welsh inward investment message.
