First Minister, and Labour Senedd Member for Mid and West Wales, Eluned Morgan, has paid tribute to the incredible work of Nicola Harteveld and the Megan’s Starr Foundation during a recent visit to the charity’s community cafe in Milford Haven.

Nicola founded the Megan’s Starr Foundation in memory of her daughter, Megan Evans, who tragically took her own life in 2017 after experiencing severe bullying. Determined to turn her loss into something that could help others, Nicola has created a safe, welcoming space where young people and their parents can find support, friendship and hope.

At the heart of that mission is the Megan’s Starr Community Coffee House on Charles Street, Milford Haven. The cafe is more than just a place for coffee - it’s a hub of kindness and community. It offers barista training, volunteering opportunities, creative workshops and mental health support, giving young people a place to talk openly and rebuild confidence in a supportive environment.

During her visit, Eluned met Nicola and her team to hear about the foundation’s projects and the difference they are making across Pembrokeshire.

Eluned Morgan MS said: “Meeting Nicola was deeply moving. She has taken unimaginable heartbreak and turned it into something full of hope - a place where young people can be themselves and find strength again.

“The compassion and determination behind Megan’s Starr is truly inspiring. It shows how love and community can come together to create real change. I want to thank Nicola and everyone involved for everything they do to support young people and their families right here in Pembrokeshire.

“The Megan’s Starr Foundation continues to expand its work supporting mental health and wellbeing in West Wales through its cafe, community outreach, and parent support networks.”
