The First Minister for Wales Rhodri Morgan joined in the fun at the official opening of Barnardos new Pembroke Dock Yo-Yo Centre last Friday by singing the centre's theme song along with children and other dignatories.

Mr. Morgan was at the centre to officially open it following an extensive refurbishment provided under the Government's Sure Start initiative.

The centre is run by Barnardos in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council and Sure Start.

During his visit, Mr. Morgan toured the centre then was presented with a button hole by two-year-old Chesney Griffiths, and a model of a family at play by Mr. Kevin Brookes.

The catchy Yo Yo song was written by Bongo Clive and the children of the centre. It soon had everyone tapping away.

Mr. Morgan described the centre "as a path breaking initiative that clearly demonstrated what can be done when voluntary organisations, Sure Start, the County Council and the Assembly work together with the community."

He went on the describe the centre as "the beating heart of the community."

Jean Coban centre manager said it was a lovely day and provided for all involved with Yo Yo, families, community other voluntary and statutory bodies to come together to celebrate the opening of the new centre.

"The Government's Sure Start initiative, aimed at under fours, as enabled us to treble the size of the centre and increased staffing levels, enabling us to provide a wider range of services to the community," she explained
