The First Minister for Wales, Rhodri Morgan, paid a visit to Pembrokeshire on Tuesday, calling in at Manorbier School to see how funds had been spent from the Welsh Assembly Government's Safe Routes To Schools programme grant.

Mr. Morgan asked the headteacher and pupils how the sheme had benefited the school, considering that before the improvements were made the route to the school was known as a dangerous one.

Mr. Morgan was told that since the Safe Routes To Schools scheme had been introduced, over 30 per cent more pupils were now able to cycle to school. The First Minister is seen with pupils outside the school. Also pictured is local AM, Christine Gwyther, headteacher, Jackie Greenhouse, and school governor and local councillor, Tony Wales.
